Get to Know the Artist.

John Albrecht, a lifelong resident of Charleston, discovered his passion for visual art as a child, drawing his family’s boats and shrimp vessels. After pursuing a career in civil engineering & getting a degree from the Citadel, he retired to focus on his true calling: oil painting. Gifted art lessons in 1999 reignited his artistic journey, leading him to study under local masters like Joyce Hall and Laurie Meyer. Embracing plein air painting, Albrecht thrives on capturing the fleeting beauty of his surroundings, often participating in workshops like Plein Air South. His vibrant works grace galleries and exhibitions across the Southeast, including the prestigious Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibit, and he is represented by Perspective Art Gallery in Mount Pleasant.
